About Me

As an American just recently back from Australia, my coaching history is different than most, but still demonstrates all the facets of producing a championship program.  Currently, I am the offensive coordinator and assistant coach for Australia’s World Cup team.  Like other World Cup leagues, we compete in Olympic-style international competitions.  For the last two years, I have also been the assistant coach and defensive coordinator for the Western Crusaders, a semi-pro adult Australian team.  From a previous record of 7 wins, 6 loses, we went 14 and 0 in my first season, winning the state championship.  I then took our team to Australia’s version of the Super Bowl, the highest level one can go in Australian football, beating every team in the league by giving up less than 9 points a game.  This is the same league that Cleveland Browns' Head Coach Eric Mangini coached while in Australia.

I am a deep believer in developing mental toughness, the X factor for any team.  Not only is it the secret weapon of success, but it is one of the main reasons I am in sports -- to develop the player as a whole person with skills that they can use in other parts of life.  While we have some great athletes in Australia, no one grows up with the game.  They have to be developed, molded, and polished from diamonds-in-the-rough.  Mental toughness has helped us squeeze the most out of raw talent to perform better than expectation. The brain controls everything, so as coaches, we would be remiss not to focus on developing our mental game as well.
